\storynamehere\ Ch-2 Part-1 (First Steps)The whirr of the stock motor started up as the telescopic sensor pod receded back into the ship.
"Distress signal sent?"
"Well "MORI mumbled as he ran the simplified telemetry equations for a third time. "I can't be sure exactly where we are. The calculations for finding out just where we are in the universe are too much for me to process without exponentially increasing the amount of energy the processor uses. I'm doing simplified calculations for trying to get a general area of the galaxy we are in, but I just can't be 100% sure until I do the more advanced calculations. Anyways, I've sent out a distress frequency ping from the craft to where I believe Homefleet is near"
"And how much energy would it take for you to process these advanced equations"
"With your current caloric intake I calculate your body could maintain itself with no visible affect to your vital functions for approximately 2 seconds. Anything over 6 seconds, and the effects could be permanent" Riza's
//?A Curious Sergal (3)- Part 11- Version 1-----Things fall apart
BANG BANG! BANG!
Jax was shaken out of his contemplations of revenge as another volley of fire arrows was followed by three loud bangs.
He scrambled up the side of one of the small adobe buildings and climbed over its roof to the other side. What he thought was the small feathered creature he had passed by in the market place was now quivering on the ground, apparently injured, next to two large Sergals, but his eyes were still partially blinded by the fire arrows. Jax hopped down from the low roof and ran over to the Sergals to see what had happened. When he approached, he realized they had grey fur. The Northerners had managed to get so far into the city already?! He was only a few blocks from the city center he had so recently been held captive in. No, this couldn't be. He must have been turned around. Yes! That was it. He had been dizzy from when the other Sergal had punched him at the gates. A city this large couldn't have been taken so easily, he was only m
\storynamehere\ Ch-1 Part-4 (Fettered Flight)"It's fine MORI, I just " Something on Riza's screen caught her eye "What's that?" she asked as the unidentified object came hurtling forwards towards her small craft as it floated as light as a feather in the gentle Jetstream.
"Eyes out" Riza said. MORI extended the telescopic probe mount on the top of the craft and a plethora of holographic views blinked up in front of Riza. Her eyes darted over the radiographic, thermal, infrared, radar, and electro-magnetic scanner sweeps to get a better view of what the small object was.
"How interesting " Riza said, her inner scientist taking over.
"Umm Riza?" MORI's tone gathering urgency by the letter.
"It's almost as if " Riza was still captivated by the small device hurtling at her craft in its pre-planned trajectory through the Jetstream.
"RIZA! UP!!" MORI screamed in her head.
"S**t!" the mercenary Riza strangled the control wheel with both her hands and pulled up.
Scree!!! The small craft protested as it was torn
\storynamehere\ Ch-1 Part-3 (Perchance to Dream)Riza opened her eyes. She was floating in space. She unfolded her curled up body from the fetal position she was in, and stretched her wing-like arms as far as they could go. Her bioluminescent fingers and eyes pulsed with bright light as she soared over nebulas and through ice fields. One dust cloud in particular caught her attention. She banked to the left to get a closer look at the ominously familiar dust cloud as its murky glow seemed to draw her in. She flew into it, and came across a solar system securely nestled within the dust cloud's protective boundaries. There was a sun, and five planets. Four and a half, truth be told. The third and fourth planets out from the sun in the center orbited around each other, forming a binary orbit. She knew what this place was.
Riza drifted closer to the smaller of the two sister planets, and looked down. It was Katabata. What used to be her species' home. Through the atmosphere, she could see her people like little ants on the surface. The sm
\storynamehere\ Ch-1 Part-2 (Ice, Fire)"MORI, what's happening?", she hesitantly asked in the lone room No response. This was understandable; even as an AI, MORI could only be in so many places at once, and last Riza remembered her implant's persona had been off with the ship's AI.
Riza was thrown to the wall as the screeching of twisting metal raked her eardrums. She curled up into a ball and protected her head with her outer hands. A wave of heat washed over her from the ball of flame that jetted out of the life-support system. After a few moments she started to get on all fours. Staying still in this scenario meant death.
Riza was thrown back to the ground as the bulkhead two decks below her reached its structural limits and explosively decompressed.
A wall of icy air enveloped her naked body as the vacuum of space started to suck the life out of the vessel and its inhabitants. She ran to her personal item container and flung it open, not caring as her various trinkets flew out. She grabbed
//?The Jackal (6)[My progenitor seemed to think it was important to archive all that happened in his final hours. I am not sure the importance of the memories he left behind, but I feel that I should add to them just in case.]
-----Sustenance for Shadows
He looked around at the camp he was in. Everything looked different then when they had been marching. Most of the creatures, Sergals they had called themselves, had stripped off their armor, and were wearing quite liberal clothing. Their thick fur coat made it so they really didn't need to wear anything, but still look like they were wearing a heavy winter coat. Some were eating, and some were grooming, and some were sleeping in groups. Probably for warmth Jack postulated with a shiver. He entered notes for everything he saw into his mic.
"Over here!" he heard a familiar call from North. He turned to see Lyn, Chy'tal, Loc'ti, and most of his squad lounging in a mass of bodies and backpacks. He walked over and huddled up near them, but not close e
Little Miss It“Do you enjoy her company?”
That, Avadaci concluded, had been the extent of his grandfather’s kindness. Thank the stars he had broken his neck after a failed attempt to ascend the castle staircase. Not that many were privy to this information. The official listing on the cause of death involved something along the lines of falling in battle after slaying at least a dozen demons, although this was treated with quite a bit of skepticism by the general populace. Yet, interestingly enough, a decent portion of the locals believed a tale about the cannibals of Unkhtom devouring him whole.
Not that Avadaci really cared how his grandfather had died. He was just glad he was dead. And if he was glad his grandfather had died, Avadaci wondered, why did he have to attend his funeral? In fact, the whole kingdom was glad his grandfather had died. Why did they have to attend the funeral?
“Oh Avad,” proclaimed his mother, “obv
